My Very First Gay Bar...

Oh so many years ago. Still my favorite in town! Keep up the good work.

Great staff, changing scene

Burkhart's has a great layout and decor. It' a nice space to be in. The staff is friendly and worth getting to know. Clientale varies. There are the amusing after-work alcoholic queens who love to scream that obligatory sad Southern word: "Bitch". A younger crowd comes in and also some, less, older guys. The drag shows are well attended and genuinely, thoroughly pathetic-which seems to be another Southern taste which is about 30 years behind the times. And when are they going to outlaw indoor smoking here? Still, a pleasant place to be that gets a racous, fun to watch crowd. Some of the karaoke singers are pretty good. Food is good and cheap. Great garden in the back for Summer evenings.

Great Patio

If its to croweded inside, just step out to the patio. They have a great steak special too if you get there early and want to eat dinner.

Lots of fun!

Went here with a big group. A few of us played blackjack with Miss Lauren. The drinks were generous and the atmosphere lots of fun! The solo guitarist/singer outside seemed a little strange compared to the energy in the rest of the bar.

A place to call your own

Burkharts is probably one of the friendliest places I've ever visited. The bartenders are great; the food is actually quite good; I order the burger or the steak to have with my G&T and sit at the bar and eat and watch lots of cute guys...there's a great cross-section of men..all ages, sizes and colors...a very diverse group. At Christmas and other holidays, the decorations are wonderful (in fact, the Crystal Christmas is something else..soooo gay). It's a great place to start the evening, but I usually move on after a while there. The drag show, however, leaves something to be desired for...in fact, it's more a caricature of a drag show, so maybe my sensibilities just aren't sharp enough to appreciate it. However, I always enjoy my visits.
