Sawicki's (Closed Permanently)

(4 Ratings)
Popular deli
Turning out high quality sandwiches and prepared foods, this deli/market is an excellent stop for take-out and picnic foods. Roasted meat sandwiches, like the lamb with red onion jelly or pork with pickled onions and lemon, are divine. The vegetarian options, such as the artichoke with spinach, avocado and tomato tartine, are crowd pleasers.

You've GOT To Try This!

Officially called "Sawicki's Meat Seafood and More," this is a great little deli and meat/seafood shop in the heart of downtown Decatur. The takeout sandwiches are a divine excuse to not cook--I thought I was in heaven when I tried the one with moroccan style preserved lemons. But this place is a godsend for spectacular meats and seafoods. Now that it's grilling season, we keep popping in for some beautiful cuts of meat (the only place to do so in downtown Decatur without getting in the car) and scrumptious sides. Owner Lynne is as sweet as they come and always goes out of her way to help the two of us--with bipolar tastebuds--figure out what's for dinner. Please visit this place. It's a neighborhood gem.
