The quarterly meeting is the chance to learn about Rainbros, what's happening with the organization in 2018 and bring friends to offer up what we do.
One the areas Rainbros focuses on is connecting people in the LGBTQ community across generations in platonic ways. We were so inspired by this video that we wanted to create something similar: http://attitude.co.uk/13-year-old-gay-boy-and-78-year-old-gay-man-sit-down-to-discuss-gay-life-and-both-learn-a-lot/. For this meeting we'll be pairing two people up in four categories where they will share their stories in how things have changed in the past 40-50 years. We will have stories from the African American and Trans communities.
1) Coming out to family and friends
2) Gay social life (bars, clubs, interacting with / finding other gay people)
3) Work and sexuality (ability to be out at work, etc)
4) Activism (how was it done, what issues were fought for, what were the tactics)
We'll stream this on Facebook Live and will allow Q & A at the end of each segment. We're very excited to share these stories and promote the value of us sharing our life experience with one another. Special thanks to Touching Up Our Roots for their help in planning this.
