"The Lion Sings Tonight" - a benefit concert for Joining Hearts and BC/EFA

On Monday, April 21, 2014, twenty-seven company members from the Broadway national touring company of DISNEY'S THE LION KING will host "The Lion Sings Tonight," an energizing evening of performances that will excite your soul! Held at the Rich Theatre in the Woodruff Arts Center at 1280 Peachtree Street in Atlanta, the event will feature company members performing their favorite songs of the 60s. Some of the most talented singers and dancers in America will perform 23 numbers (including medleys, 27 songs) made famous by: Aretha Franklin Marvin Gaye Gladys Knight The Supremes The Rolling Stones Smokey Robinson and The Miracles The Temptations Ike and Tina Turner Blood Sweat and Tears The Shirelles Bobby Darin Nancy Sinatra The Jackson Five ...and more This is a "true" benefit with no production fees and minimal overhead. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to $50,000 or more for JOINING HEARTS and BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS (BC/EFA). Produced by Kevin Ireland, founder and editor of THEBESTARTS.COM, Jeremiah Lawson, Director of Events for JOINING HEARTS, and Ben Lipitz and Jelani Remy from DISNEY'S THE LION KING, the evening will feature performances by over 25 singers, dancers and musicians from the show. In addition, there will be a silent auction of items including DISNEY'S THE LION KING memorabilia used in actual performances, a live auction of several opportunities to join the company backstage at The Fox Theatre, and more. Tickets are $40 and include a pre-show silent auction and cash bar starting at 6:15pm. VIP Tickets are $80 and include premium seating plus a pre-show reception at 6:15pm with free drinks, food, and photo ops with leading cast members from DISNEY'S THE LION KING. Sponsorships are available starting at $250 for hosts. All hosts and sponsorships receive multiple VIP tickets and additional benefits. Funds raised will directly benefit the great work of Joining Hearts for AID Atlanta, Jerusalem House, and The Living Room, as well as Open Hand Atlanta and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
