Two years ago, we gathered to discuss the tragedy of queer youth homelessness here in Atlanta, and Lost-n-Found Youth was created to address the emergency. Two years later, we again call on our community to gather to discuss our homeless youth.
The Lost-n-Found board will update the community regarding what the organization has been doing to address queer youth homelessness in Atlanta, the status of our growth plan, and statistics revealing the nature of the homelessness problem.
We will gather inside at the main bar of Burkharts Pub (Atlanta, GA) at 6:30 pm. The presentation will start at 7:00 pm. Following that, our Executive Director, Rick Westbrook, will return to complete his 48-hour vigil.
The 48-hour Vigil:
This meeting marks the halfway point of Rick Westbrook's 48-hour vigil; Lost-n-Found Youth Executive Director Rick Westbrook will be living as a homeless youth for 48 hours. With nothing more than his cell phone and ID, he depend on the kindness of the community to survive as he brings attention and awareness to our local LGBT youth homelessness problem.
A moving van will be located at the front entrance of Burkharts to receive donations for Lost-n-Found Youth: clothing, blankets, nonperishable foods, gift cards for fast food or department stores, etc. Larger items, such as furniture, should be delivered to our soon-to-open thrift store at 2586 Chantilly Dr, Atlanta GA 30324.
