In an unassuming shopping center you'll find Woof's, Atlanta's only gay sports bar. TVs tuned to ESPN, college pennants, team banners and beer signs - for most of us this sounds like our worst nightmare.
But if you love sports - or the men who play them - you'll love Woof's. The men packed wall-to-wall inside are a little on the bearish side. Grab a chair, a beer, some greasy bar food and watch the game.

Went for a drink before dinner. Very large crowd. It's a fun place to hang out if you want to go somewhere early or during the day.

If you are a bear or are into bears then this is your place. If you are not a bear or an admirer of them then do not bother. Not very friendly from my times there and I have been about 10 times. Had one fun night when I met some folks from out of town. Food used to be pretty good, but average at best now.

My partner and I stopped in on the way from the airport to our hotel in Marietta. The lunch was fantastic, the staff was extremely friendly! I loved the sports bar theme! If I owned a bar, I would want it to be nearly exactly the same. This is a fantastic establishment!

You can't go wrong with sports on TV, jerseys on the walls, cheap drinks and good food, and convenient location, right? Well despite all those great things, this place is the worst for attitudes and stuck-up cliques like you have never seen. They are also in need of a serious makeover, I heard they were moving so they must have quit cleaning the place two years ago in expectation of that. True story: I found a fingernail in my food, which says quite alot on many levels.

Sports bar with diverse but mostly jeans/t-shirt or bearish crowd, 30-50. Extremely social, and mostly locals who know each other from local sports teams or other outside-the-bar-scene situations. Emphatically an "average Joe" non-queeny crowd. Large, stiff, cheap drinks and decent burger-and-fries bar food. Early crowd; biggest night is Fridays 9 to midnight or during a big game.

We were told this was a friendly bear bar. After several visits to this place, were felt out of place, and unwelcomed. We were lucky to get a "hello" from the staff. Good place to watch sports and not be bothered by others, not good if you are looking to be social.

I visited Woofs to see a basketball game not on my hotel TV. Game-time came and my Big East game wasn't featured on any of the 20 or 30 tvs. So I asked Jimmy (hot bartender)to put it on. He got a guy...and presto my game is on one of the big screens right behind me. Perfect! So, I get a truly wonderful burger and enjoyed a couple beers. Perhaps the best part was a local that announced I "was the most handsome guy he ever saw." So, for some great eye candy, great food, great staff members and an ego boost... go to Woofs on Piedmont. BTW my whole evening $15!
