***** Not many of Atlanta's original...

Not many of Atlanta's original gay bars from the 1970s are left but Bulldogs has been open and pouring since 1978. Beware as you approach the large, well-stocked bar--their bartender's reputation for a heavy-handed drink is infamous.

Although the spacious dance floor pumps out hip hop and house, if shaking your tail is not your thing you can always claim a pool table. Because of its prime location on Peachtree Street, Bulldogs is convenient to the hotels in the area...you'll probably meet a visitor or two, and the back patio is a great place to get to know them even better!

Insider Tip: Although Bulldogs is well-known as a black gay bar, it welcomes everyone (especially if you love hip hop).

Everybody knows that you cannot go wrong with a visit to Bulldogs. And, everybody knows that the drinks will put you on your a** if you are not careful. The friendly bartender mixes very potent drinks. You definitely get your money's worth. And there is eye candy for every taste. The dance floor stays crowded the whole night long! I go at least once per visit. Last time, I went two nights in a row! LOL

I am a white GA Tech student. I went with a few black friends of mine. From everything I heard about gay racism in Atlanta thought I would be in for a long miserable evening. I had a few drinks and I just started dancing. Some people where stand-off-ish but once the drinks kicked in I could care less. Someone came up to me and asked, "aren't you uncomfortable here?" He later explained cause I was white. I am from Seattle and I never knew what the gay racial fuss is all about. Anyways because I am bold and I just do my own thing the other brothas that had a white boy thing ended up coming out of the wood work and danced with me. I think the open to all races brothas are just as scared to mix it up just as much as the other white boys that don't see race. Overall Atlanta is a great city. People need to let go of the racial attitude. Things would change if people would change up their musical tastes. People end up going where they like the music. The techno clubs in ATL cater to white and the hip-hop/r&b clubs in ATL cater to black. I don't go to country bars!!! Bulldogs is a great place, more sophisticated and has better music then Club 708. Club 708 is more catered to the "high school crowd" who want to hookup, find their ecstasy, cause drama, do the "ball scene" moves, and find their afterparty. Love the GROWN and sexy vibe at Bulldogs!!!
